We are a professional, globally-trading family business with a reputation for giving a very personal and hands-on service. Much of our business is word of mouth — “again and again… much of our business comes from personal recommendations”.
Our history
It all began in 1968 with Martin Kidson-Trigg, who built a reputation for selling farms, land and village properties, as well as operating Furniture & Fine Art Auction Rooms in both Marlborough and Swindon. Our connection to Marlborough dates back to the 1960s, when Martin ran Marlborough Auctioneers (formerly Dennis Pocock). The Kidson-Trigg team has carried the business on since 1992, and today the family firm operates from the auction rooms at Friars Farm, one mile from Shrivenham, just north of Swindon.

A global audience
Auction selling has gone global. Thanks to specialist online bidding platforms, which we have used since 2015, our auctions regularly feature bidders from across the UK, Europe, the U.S. and Asia — especially in jewellery, where global competition delivers excellent results. Discoveries have included an Old Master still life by Frans Snyders found in a house clearance and sold for £300,000, Renaissance jewellery found in a freezer during a probate clearance that sold for £70,000, and a pair of Chinese bronze seals sold for £95,000.

We cover London and the South West, and locally Marlborough and Swindon to Oxford: Ogbourne St George, Pewsey and the Pewsey Vale, Ramsbury, Cricklade, Fairford, Lechlade, Bampton, Burford, Witney, Wantage and the Vale of the White Horse villages, Bishopstone, Liddington, Aldbourne, Wootton Bassett, Chiseldon, Wroughton, Broad Hinton, Winterbourne Monkton and Winterbourne Bassett, Stanford in the Vale, Uffington and across to the Cotswolds.

Charity work
Kidson-Trigg have been proud to support Prospect Hospice for many years. We sell charity lots for many clients with reduced commission and lotting fees, and many charity shops now use us — recently a pair of Japanese vases in need of repair, sent in by a charity shop, made £2,500.
